Skiing Across Greenland's Icecap

Tony Hampson-Tindale
Johannesburg Monthly Meeting
Tuesday, April 5, 2016 - 07:00

Join us at our monthly ESSA club meeting when sportsman Tony Hampson-Tindale will be speaking about his 700 km skiing trip across Greenland's icecap during the Northern Hemisphere summer, when the sun never sets. Tony describes the panorama, visible for 360 degrees around him as "surreal" and narrowly missed an encounter with a polar bear.

Tony has scaled the seven summits and run a number of endurance races in faraway countries, so he will have plenty to say about the training required to complete these kinds of physical challenges -- which he firmly believes everyone is capable of doing if they put their mind to it.

Cricket Pavilion, Johannesburg Country Club
