Paragliding across the World

Andre Rainsford-Alberts
Johannesburg Monthly Meeting
Tuesday, May 3, 2016 - 19:00

Join us for our ESSA Club meeting tonight when world champion paraglider Andre Rainsford-Alberts speaks about his daring exploits in North and South America, Europe and Australia. He counts launching himself backwards off a cliff in the winelands during the rescue of a badly injured friend as one of his "scariest" experiences -- but has managed to walk away from every one of his own unplanned landings with nothing worse than torn knee ligaments. Andre says he has been trying to understand why he takes part in such a dangerous sport since he began paragliding in 1998 - maybe we'll figure it out at his talk 'Paragliding World Cup: the People, the Places, the Lessons'.

Venue:

Cricket Pavilion, Johannesburg Country Club
