Recreational Swift Water Rescue, Parys

Vaal River, Parys

Trip Participants

Hugh Du Preez
This course hosted by ESSA and Hugh Du Preez seeks to educate recreational river users, kayakers, crocers, adventure racers, rafters, and tubers, in the necessary rescue strategies for everyday river use. Swiftwater Rescue deals with the identification, prevention and rescue of incidents in various whitewater hazards, starting with the ability to look after oneself and then the rescue of others. All paddlers, especially those taking less experienced paddling partners and teammates with them, need to have up-to-date, regular training in Swiftwater Rescue and First Aid. One of the worst feelings must be “If I had done the Swiftwater Rescue Course maybe [insert name here] would not be quite so dead”. Adventure Racers who have attended a few Swiftwater Rescue Clinics are more likely to rescue someone and prevent injuries or death.   Date and Times: 8:00 AM on Saturday, 27 and Sunday, 28 February 2016 Price: R690 – If you have your own equipment , minimum of throw bag (15m<), tape, prussic and screw gate caribiner.
